BMT is the leading independent centre of engineering design, design support and technical services for defence customers.  From concept design to acquisition support, in-service design and technology management, BMT is known for its innovation, expertise and our ability to tackle the most complex design and systems issues. 

Our Combat System Engineers are subject matter experts on the delivery of the fighting capability of warships enabled by a ships weapons, radars, radio communications to name but a few.

 What’s the role?

We are now looking for experienced engineers to join our expanding Combat Systems team in our Bath Office. 

Our engineers lead on aspects of technical projects using your experience, skills and your ability to successfully build and maintain client relationships.  The work varies hugely over the course of a year depending on the needs of our broad customer base; no two days are the same at BMT!
What are we looking for?

We are looking for people with the following skills and experience to join our team:

  • Design and operation of Combat Systems Equipment; or

  • Physical integration of equipment onto ships; or

  • Experience of maintaining Combat System Equipment or providing in-service support to it; or

  • Acquisition experience of providing Combat System Equipment or Systems to warships.

  • A minimum of HND level / foundation degree (or equivalent) in a relevant discipline;

  • Registered with a Professional Engineering Institution with either Incorporated Engineer or Chartered Engineer status;

  • Excellent written & verbal communication skills.

The following experience would be advantageous:

  • An understanding of the challenges presented by the development of technology around computers, telecommunications and military command and control;

  • An understanding of requirements and specification management, configuration and design change management or the organisation and conduct of trials;

  • Broad experience of systems engineering and/or other engineering domains;

  • Knowledge of UK MoD procurement procedures; and

  • Experience in project management.
